Craig Rice

Producer and director Craig Rice grew up in Minneapolis, studying film with Al Milgrom and attending film school at the University of Southern California, where he produced the ABC television documentary We Teach Our Children, about desegregation in Los Angeles schools. Craig Rice was an assistant producer of Prince's legendary film Purple Rain, as well as producer of Prince's feature film Graffiti Bridge. His work in film continues to the present day, having more recently been producer and director of the HBO documentary Half Past Autumn, about St. Paul native writer, photographer, and filmmaker Gordon Parks. He has also had a long career in the music industry, including working with Prince for many years, managing Meatloaf, Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston, and working extensively in both lighting/stage work and musical performance himself. He has also served as the executive director of the Minnesota Film and TV Board.
