E-Center for Cinema

The E-Center for Cinema is a resource for bringing together study and activity surrounding the history, theory, criticism, and production of the moving image at the University of Minnesota and in the Twin Cities arts community at large. Established from an initiative of the Department of Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature at the University of Minnesota, the E-Center is a work in progress: part historic archive of Minnesota film, part practical information, part news resource, and part active community. We hope you take part in and enjoy the vibrant and growing community of Minnesota film.

The following contains a brief overview of what you will find in each section of the site:

MN Film History: Watch videos of exclusive interviews from major figures in the history of Minnesotan film. Read profiles of legendary film personalities from Minnesota and find archives and tips on important books about landmarks and historic sites in the Twin Cities and Minnesota.

Twin Cities Film Today: Locate film programs at Minnesotan universities, the film sections of newspapers and journals, as well as important independent theatres and video stores. Also find information on film festivals and an archive of film conferences, and for filmmakers, a basic guide to film making resources (funding, acting, equipment, permissions).

U of M Film: Information including courses and study resources for undergraduate majors in Studies in Cinema and Media Culture (SCMC) and other students interested in film. Profiles of film professors (regardless of apartment affiliation) as well as alumni with film related Ph.D.s. Film collaboratives and centers and online resources for film study.
